Illegal Oil Refinery Found in Russia’s Dagestan

Makhachkala, 17 April: A secret operational oil refinery has been discovered in Dagestan’s Tarumovskiy District, the press service of the republic’s Interior Ministry told Interfax on Thursday [17 April].
The police discovered an operational oil refinery in a search operation in the village of Kochubey yesterday, the source said. Its owner, a resident of Khasavyurt, is suspected of involvement in illegal oil refining without a licence to operate fire-hazardous industrial facilities in collusion with officials from oil refining enterprises between September and December 2007.
He is also suspected of selling petrol products worth a total of R4,270,000 and evading taxes. The case is being investigated, the press service said.
