Kosovo Power Plant Breakdown Causes Further Energy Cuts

Prishtina [Pristina], 21 April: The Kosova [Kosovo] Energy Corporation (KEK) announced today that the power cuts schedule will be increased for the three categories because the B2 unit of the Kosova B Power Plant has stopped production due to damage in the tubes of the furnace of this unit.

According to the press release of the KEK, Kosova currently is producing 262 megawatt electrical energy per hour and that it is importing 210 megawatt electrical energy per hour from Albania.

The press release reads that the work for the reparation of the damage in the B2 unit of has begun and that it needs 36 hours for the problem in this unit to be fixed and for it to begin production again.

The KEK also announced that, in order to avoid long schedules of the power cuts, they have activated A4 Unit of the Kosova A Power Plant, which can produce 140 megawatt.
