MINSK. April 21 (Interfax) – A Belarusian-Chinese joint venture established by Belarusian electronics manufacturer Horizont and the Chinese appliance company Midea Group plans to begin producing microwave ovens early this fall, Horizont deputy general Alexei Mozzhukhin told Interfax.

Currently, premises are being built and repaired at the production site, he said. “Tenders have been held. Equipment is being bought and delivered,” Mozzhukhin added.
The production site has the rated capacity of one million units per year, the general director said, adding that it will produce $2 billion worth of microwave ovens, when the rated capacity is reached. The JV also plans to produce vacuum cleaners, air conditioning systems, and other household appliances in the future.
It was reported earlier that the Belarusian-Chinese JV plans to produce 460,000 microwave ovens in the first year of its work. The production of microwave ovens will reach up to two million in the next three years.
