Air New Zealand to raise domestic airfares
WELLINGTON, April 30 (Xinhua) — New Zealand’s national carrier Air New Zealand is to lift domestic airfares, blaming the rise on the cost of fuel.
The airline announced on Wednesday a 3 percent price increase for travel booked from next Tuesday, and is reviewing trans-Tasman fares.
The company, which had lifted domestic fares in the middle of last month, said it regretted having to do so again within such a short space of time.
But Air New Zealand said jet fuel prices have increased by 10 percent since then.
Australian airline Qantas made a similar move this week, increasing domestic airfares by 3.5 percent from May 9 and international fares by 3 percent.
