US Airways April Passenger Traffic Down
US Airways Group has reported that its revenue passenger miles in April 2008 decreased 2% to 5.1 billion, compared to 5.25 billion in April 2007.
The capacity decreased 2.6% to 6.2 billion available seat miles, compared to 6.34 billion available seat miles in April 2007. The passenger load factor for the month of April 2008 was 83.2%, up 0.5 points versus 82.7% in April 2007.
The total mainline load factor for April 2008 increased 1.1 percentage points to 80.1% from 79% reported in the same period of 2007.
Scott Kirby, president of US Airways, said: “Our April traffic comparison reflects the Easter holiday shift. Consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile was flat to down 2% when compared to the same period last year. Bookings remained strong in April and are also robust as we look forward in the second quarter.”
