A University of Oregon architecture professor has received the 2008 Women in Solar Energy Award from the American Solar Energy Society.

Alison Kwok accepted the award at ASES’s Solar 2008 Conference Monday in San Diego. The award recognizes solar advocates who have make a contribution to their field and inspire young women to enter the sciences.

Kwok was recognized for her student involvement, including guiding 17 of her students to present case studies at the ASES conference. She also co-authored the 10th edition of “Mechanical and Electrical Equipment for Buildings” and the “Green Studio Handbook” with Walter Grondzik, a former visiting professor at UO.
