PPL EnergyPlus to Supply Natural Gas for Pennsylvania Universities

ALLENTOWN, Pa., May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PPL EnergyPlus, the trading and marketing subsidiary of PPL Corporation , has been awarded contracts to supply natural gas to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education beginning in June.

PPL EnergyPlus will supply natural gas to Cheyney, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield and Shippensburg universities and Dixon University Center, a regional education hub in Harrisburg, Pa. The contracts, which vary in length from 10 months to 3 years, will provide a total volume of about 1.3 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
PPL EnergyPlus began offering retail natural gas to commercial and industrial customers in portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware in October 2007.
Natural gas service comes in two parts -- supply and delivery. PPL EnergyPlus is offering gas supply. Customers who buy their gas from PPL EnergyPlus would still have it delivered by their local natural gas distribution company.
PPL EnergyPlus buys and sells energy commodities in competitive wholesale markets. PPL EnergyPlus is also active in deregulated retail markets, and offers electricity supply, natural gas supply, and renewable energy products to commercial, industrial and institutional customers.
