Seven West Virginia Airports to Get Federal Funds for Improvements

Seven West Virginia airports are getting federal funds to upgrade runways and make other improvements.

Tri-State Airport near Huntington is getting the largest grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA awarded $4.5 million to Tri-State to improve its runway safety area.

Other FAA grants include $3.3 million to Mingo County Airport, $961,240 to Fairmont Municipal Airport, $477,433 to Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport, $461,240 to Beckley Raleigh County Memorial Airport, $111,240 to Ohio County Airport and $46,853 to Grant County Airport.

The grants were announced Tuesday by U.S. Sens. Robert C. Byrd and Jay Rockefeller and Rep. Nick Rahall.
