Lights Still Out for Some Westmoreland, Fayette Customers

More than 4,000 customers, mostly in Westmoreland and Fayette counties, are still without electrical power today after high winds toppled trees and power lines on Sunday.
Doug Colafella, Allegheny Power spokesman, said crews have restored power for more than 28,000 customers in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
"They are all storm-related, all a result of high winds causing tree damage, downed limbs on power lines," Colafella said. "That's typically what we see with a rainstorm accompanied by a lot of wind."
There are about 2,400 customers without service in the Greensburg and Latrobe areas. Some 2,000 customers are making do without service in Fayette County, mostly in Uniontown and Connellsville.
Colafella said he expected all power to be restored by some time this evening.
"It's a tedious task," he said. "There are limbs down in many places where it affects just a few customers. It's a matter of trucks getting from one place to the next. It's very time- consuming."
