Russian Energy Official Opens Hospital in Uzbek Capital

A delegation of the Russian Union of Oil and Gas Producers led by the head of the Russian Union of Oil and Gas Producers and the chairman of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council, Yuriy Shafranik, will be in Uzbekistan on an official visit on 12-13 May 2008. The visit is being paid with the support of the Russian embassy in Uzbekistan.
During the visit of the Russian delegation, a family clinic fitted out with modern medical equipment and technology with the capacity of serving 600 visitors during a single shift was handed over to the Uzbek side and an opening ceremony was held on 12 May in Tashkent. Dispensaries for venereal, skin diseases and TB in Chilonzor district in the city of Tashkent were opened as well. An investment and financial group of the SoyuzNefteGaz [oil and gas company] has spent over 4m dollars for constructing and equipping the medical establishments.
At the opening ceremony, Yuriy Shafranik noted that the course [of reforms] carried out under the leadership of Uzbek President Islom Karimov and aimed at liberalization of the economy and creating favourable investment climate which contributes to the further development of all fields of the economy including oil and gas, made it possible to construct, reconstruct and modernize the oil and gas sector's various facilities by means of internal funds and attracting foreign investment.
