Portland energy company Iberdrola Renewables Inc. has purchased 200 wind turbines from General Electric. The new turbines can power 75,000 homes and are capable of generating 300 megawatts of power.

Iberdrola operates wind farms in Sherman County, which is east of Cascades along the Columbia River and has sites around the world. It recently changed its name from PPM Energy. Iberdrola was previously owned by Scottish Power, which it purchased in 2006. The Madrid- based company's U.S. headquarters are located in the Pearl District.
