Tajik Leader Leaves for Northern Region

Dushanbe, 15 May: Today Tajik President Emomali Rahmon left for [northern] Sughd Region on a working visit.

A source in the presidential press service told Asia-Plus that today he [the president] intended to visit a number of farms in Bobojon Ghafurov District.

"A meeting of the region's activists, which will consider the results of socioeconomic development of the region in January-April of this year, will take place on the farm named after Otajon Ubaydulloyev," the source concluded.

We should recall that a meeting of the presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is planned to be held in Khujand tomorrow, which will discuss border, water and energy issues, as well as preparations for the forthcoming summit of the presidents of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries in Dushanbe in August.
