Bord Gais Annual Profits Up 29%

Irish utility Bord Gais has reported profit before tax of E166 million for fiscal 2007, a 29% increase, compared to profit before tax of E129 million for fiscal 2006.

The company reported group turnover of E1.21 billion for fiscal 2007, a 10% increase, compared to E1.11 billion for fiscal 2006. Gas sales for fiscal 2007 were E763 million, an 8% increase, compared to E710 million for fiscal 2006.

Electricity sales for fiscal year 2007 were E239 million, an 18% increase, compared to E202 million for fiscal year 2006. The company reported gas transportation sales of E169 million for fiscal year 2007, compared to E157 million for fiscal year 2006.

John Mullins, CEO of Bord Gais, said: "The fiscal year 2007 was a notable year for Bord Gais with significant growth in our current markets and enhanced performance across our operations in Ireland and Northern Ireland. In terms of new developments, starting work on our new power station at Whitegate was an important milestone for Bord Gais, as it will underpin growth in our electricity supply business."
