MINE RESCUE MSHA recently debuted "Great Escape," a new concept to help miners evacuate an underground mine during a mine emergency. The prototype system consists of concrete pipe measuring approximately 42 in. in diameter and accessible at points along the pipe. Doors and vents are installed in the unit's access points and end caps. The system would be fitted with a communication and tracking infrastructure and battery-powered personnel carriers to transport miners to the surface. Learn more at www.msha.gov.
