Russian Court Stops TNK-BP From Employing Foreign Staff

A Siberian court has issued an injunction on BP’s Russian joint venture TNK-BP from employing 148 BP specialists, after Tetlis, a minority stakeholder, has claimed that the foreign employees are being paid excessively high salaries, reported the Telegraph.
Russia has recently refused to issue visas to the same set of employees. BP holds a 50% stake in TNK-BP, which contributes 25% of BP’s annual production. The remaining 50% is held by a group of billionaires.
The Telegraph has quoted the TNK-BP officials as saying that the company’s operations have been affected due to the non-availability of BP specialists.
