Autodesk Q1 Boosted By Growth in Emerging Markets

Design software company Autodesk has reported a 14% increase in net income to $94.6m for the first quarter, on revenue up 18% at $598.8m.

The company said license and other revenue grew 13% to $432.2m, while maintenance revenue grew 33% to $166.6m. Geographically, Americas revenue rose 4% to $191m, EMEA revenue increased 25% to $259m, and Asia Pacific revenue grew 27% to $149m. Emerging economies revenue rose 41% to $101m, representing 17% of total revenue, and revenue from new seats grew 23%.

Carl Bass, president and chief executive at Autodesk, said: “Emerging economies continue to underpin our overall revenue growth. We continue to experience strong growth of our 3D products.”

Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects revenue between $600m and $610m and EPS in range of $0.40 to $0.42. For fiscal 2009, it expects revenue in the range of $2.45bn to $2.50bn and EPS between $1.78 and $1.88.
