Spanish clean energy firm Iberdrola Renovables has signed a contract with Alstom's subsidiary, Ecotecnia, to purchase wind turbines with an aggregate capacity of 310MW, to be installed on its wind farms across Europe, at a total cost of E435 million.
The contract also includes transportation expenses, ancillary electrical installations and links to power grids.
Under the contract, Iberdrola Renovables is expected to buy Ecotecnia's 1.67MW and 2MW wind turbines, including the Eco-74, Eco-80 and Eco-80 2.0 models, for a total of 310MW, to be delivered over a four-year period.
The agreement with Ecotecnia comes in the wake of similar arrangements made by the Spanish company in the US, with turbine manufacturers GE and Mitsubishi, each accounting for 300MW wind turbines, and Suzlon for 700MW worth turbines.
