Report: Heathrow Plans 'Lacks Coherence'

Posted on: Wednesday, 21 May 2008, 09:00 CDT

A British government agency called for an independent review of plans to expand London's Heathrow airport, a report published Wednesday said.

The Sustainable Development Commission disputed the British Department for Transportation's claims on benefits that would arise from adding a third runway and a sixth terminal to Heathrow, The Times of London reported.

The report said a lack of policy coherence across government is contributing to confusion and uncertainty.

The report said the government should set up an independent investigation to review the expansion plans.
