Scientists Help Carbon Study
May 21, 2008
EDINBURGH University scientists have contributed to a new WWF report on the pros and cons of carbon storage technology.
Carbon capture and storage is a process for trapping CO2 and transporting it to underground geological sinks for storage.
The Government sees it as the solution to the emissions new coal- fired power plants would create. But a new WWF report warns the technique remains unproven.
Dr Dan Barlow, of WWF Scotland, said: “We should not be building new coal-fired power stations until carbon capture and storage has been proven to work.”
