Microsoft Loses Alcatel-Lucent Patent Suit
May 22, 2008
Microsoft has lost a lawsuit against Alcatel-Lucent regarding violation of patents used in business telephone networks, according to the US International Trade Commission.
The company had accused Alcatel-Lucent of infringing four of its patents for software that integrates telephones with computers. Administrative Law Judge Paul Luckern had earlier ruled that Alcatel-Lucent infringed one of the four patents, but the ITC has now determined there was no violation of section 337 pertaining to infringing intellectual property.
Earlier this year, the company was told to pay $368m to Alactel-Lucent after a federal court in San Diego found it had infringed two of Alcatel’s patents.
