Wireless Phone Users in Wilmore, Kentucky, Now Experience Even Clearer Reception and Fewer Dropped Calls

WILMORE, Ky., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Wilmore that expands network coverage, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; download music, games and ringtones; view high-quality videos and browse the Internet, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
The new cell site improves Verizon Wireless' voice and data network coverage in the following areas:
-- In Wilmore -- On the campus of Asbury College -- Along U.S. Route 68 from Wilmore into eastern Mercer County -- Along State Road 29 from the north side of Wilmore to the Jessamine/Mercer County line

This new cell site is part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Kentucky and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $221 million of this investment was spent in Kentucky since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $38 million in Kentucky network improvements.
