Turkmen Leader Inaugurates Gas Compressor Station
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and members of the EU delegation led by the EU energy commissioner, Andris Piebalgs, took part in the ceremony of commissioning a new gas compressor station in Turkmenistan’s largest gas field – Dowletabat, Turkmen TV reported on 26 May.
“Recently, in the town of Turkmenbasy, we have signed an agreement with the heads of neighbouring states – Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan – on the construction of the Caspian gas pipeline and reconstruction of powerful Central-Asia Centre gas pipeline. Upon the implementation of all works stipulated by these agreements, the volume of natural gas supplied to Russia and further to Europe will be significantly increased,” Turkmen leader said before the opening ceremony.
Turkmen leader also said that Turkmenistan had enough gas to supply all of its projected international gas pipelines. “As you know, Turkmenistan possesses large reserves of hydrocarbon resources. This in turn means that we have the capacity to supply gas to all of our projected international gas pipelines,” he said.
Talking about the capacities of the newly commissioned Dowletabat- 3 gas compressor station, Turkmen leader said that the new facility would make it possible to increase production capacities of Dowletabat field up to 10m cu.m. per day. “The commissioning of this compressor station and the Dowletabat-2 compressor station will be Turkmenistan’s contribution to the implementation of quadripartite agreement signed between the governments of the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on increasing the capacities of Central Asia-Centre-4 gas pipeline,” the president said concluding his speech.
