Beltsville-Based SunEdison’s Bright Future
SunEdison, the Beltsville-based solar energy provider, has $131 million in new private-equity funding and $30 million in debt financing. Investors include: Greylock Partners, HSH Nordbank AG, Applied Ventures, Black River Commodity Clean Energy Investment Fund, MissionPoint Capital Partner and Allco Renewable Energy. Duke Energy Carolinas signed a 20-year agreement Friday to buy all the output from a SunEdison solar farm in Davidson County, N.C. SunEdison’s commercial customers include Whole Foods, Staples and Kohl’s, among others. The company is also developing a solar energy system for the U.S. Department of Energy.
