May 28–Following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, Knoxville firm IdleAire Technologies is seeing some turnover in its work force.

Daniel Roling, CEO of National Coal Corp., said Tuesday that officials who had worked in finance and accounting at IdleAire will begin working at National Coal next month. Roling declined to identify the employees by name, but said they will serve as controller and chief accounting officer at Knoxville-based National Coal.

Meanwhile, a filing in IdleAire’s bankruptcy case indicated that company CEO Michael Crabtree was not present to testify at a “First Day Hearing” on May 14. According to the filing submitted by the acting United States trustee, IdleAire general counsel James Price testified at the hearing to corroborate an affidavit signed by Crabtree. The filing said Price testified that Crabtree was ill, but it also said that Stephen Gray, the company’s chief restructuring officer, testified “that a suggestion had been made that Crabtree resign from (IdleAire).”

The filing didn’t say who made that suggestion or whether it had been acted upon. A company spokesman did not respond to an e-mail request for comment and Crabtree could not be reached for comment.

Knoxville-based IdleAire, which operates a national network of in-cab electrification systems for long-haul truckers, filed for Chapter 11 protection in Delaware on May 12 and has announced plans to sell its assets at an auction. National Coal, also based in Knoxville, has struggled with rising losses in recent months, but recently announced plans to expand production.
