Russian Gas Exports Jump 22.7 Percent
May 30, 2008
Russian natural gas exports climbed 22.7 percent January to April compared to a year ago, largely because of warmer weather in early 2007, officials said.
Exports for January to April in 2008 reached 76.7 billion cubic meters, the Economic Development Ministry said Friday.
The bulk of deliveries — 62.3 billion cubic meters — were sent to countries other than former Soviet states, known Commonwealth of Independent State countries.
Gas production has also increased in Russia, up 1.4 percent to 234 billion cubic meters in the first four months of 2008, the Interfax news agency reported.
