enXco, the US-based subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, covering the sale of the electricity generated by the 100.5MW Wapsipinicon wind farm, which is being developed in Mower County, Minnesota.
The wind farm, which will be owned by enXco, will have 67 GE turbines each with a unit capacity of 1.5MW. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2008.
After the 150MW Shiloh-2 wind farm in California, the Wapsipinicon wind farm is the second large-scale project to be built by EDF Energies Nouvelles for its own account in the US in 2008.
It is expected to strengthen the group's positions in Minnesota, where enXco is active, and will increase EDF Energies Nouvelles's (EDF-EN) gross capacity in the state to 407.5MW.
