Prices of fuel imports keep rising in Macao

MACAO, June 2 (Xinhua) — Due to the soaring fuel prices in the international market, fuel imports in Macao became more expensive in the first quarter of this year, according to the figures released Monday by the Macao’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) .

The figures indicated that the average price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports in the period rose by 13 percent over the fourth quarter of 2007, with the list price of bottled LPG and centralized LPG going up by 13.6 percent and 11.6 percent respectively.

An increase of 11.4 percent was also recorded in the average price of Gasoline imports compared with the previous quarter, while the average price of gas oil and diesel went up 11.1 percent, according to the DSEC.

In addition, imports of electricity, accounting for 73.7 percent of the local gross available supply, rose by 3.7 percent over the previous quarter to 499 million kWh in the first three months of this year.
