Total has made a new gas and condensate discovery in the Alwyn area of the northern North Sea, close to the Jura field that has recently came on stream.
The field, to be known as Islay, lies in block 3-15 of the UK sector of the North Sea, some 440km north-east of Aberdeen, in a water depth of 120m.
The discovery well was drilled to a depth of more than 4,000m into the Brent reservoir and during testing it has produced 1.22 million cubic meters of gas per day or 8,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day including condensates.
