Allegheny Energy Generation Subsidiary Receives Investment Grade Credit Rating
Posted on: Thursday, 5 June 2008, 18:00 CDT
Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE: AYE) today announced that Standard & Poor's has upgraded the unsecured debt credit rating of Allegheny Energy Supply Company, LLC, from BB+ to BBB-, marking a return to investment grade status for the electricity generation subsidiary.
The credit rating is a key indicator of financial health and stability. An investment grade rating should allow Allegheny Energy Supply to operate in the energy marketplace at a lower cost.
Allegheny Energy's corporate family rating was upgraded to investment grade rating by S&P in May of last year. The company also reinstated a dividend on its common stock in 2007, ending a suspension that lasted nearly five years.
