Suncor Oil Sands Production Down in May

Calgary-based oil company Suncor Energy has reported that production at its oil sands facility during May 2008 averaged approximately 164,000 barrels per day. Production for the month was reduced due to a planned maintenance shutdown of one of the two oil sands facilities.
The company’s year-to-date oil sands production at the end of May 2008 has reportedly averaged approximately 225,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
Suncor has said that it is targeting average oil sands production of 275,000-285,000bpd in 2008.
