Jun. 7–Officials at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport have scaled back their search for a woman who disappeared early this morning during a layover in Terminal A.
Authorities said this afternoon they believe Jolanda Newberg, also known as Jolanda Munoz, left the airport grounds on her own and may be in a questionable emotional state. Their investigation has shown she may have left the property in a taxi from the rental car center.
Airport law enforcement started searching for her this morning after her 12-year-old son, Brandon, reported her missing around 8:45 a.m. The two had arrived at the airport on an American Airlines flight from Arkansas and were scheduled to head on to San Jose, Calif., later this morning.
Brandon went to the restroom and cound not find his mother when he returned. She was last seen at 7:45 a.m. near Gate 20, according to airport officials. She is described as a 5’8 white woman with blonde hair who weighs roughly 220 pounds and is wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. Her arm is in a blue sling.
Airport police have taken custody of her son. Social workers from Tarrant County Child Protective Services are on their way to the airport in hopes of reuniting him with other family members as soon as possible.
Airport authorities say they will continue their investigation but will scale back their search on airport grounds.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call airport authorities at (972) 973-3210.
