German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will increase fuel surcharge on domestic and intra-European routes by E3 to E24 per flight segment in response to the increase in crude oil and kerosene prices.
The airline said that the corresponding fuel surcharge on long-haul routes will be raised by E10 to E92 per flight segment. The increases will apply to all Lufthansa tickets issued on or after June 16, 2008.
Lufthansa had previously increased its fuel surcharges on May 14, 2008, on European flights by E4 to E21, and on long-haul flights by E5 to E82.
Lufthansa has stated that it continually monitors oil prices and will make any future adjustments to the fuel surcharge dependent on further trends in the price of jet fuel.
