Energy Alternatives Installed Peak-Shaving Capacity Reaches 200MW

Energy Alternatives, a for-profit subsidiary of Dakota Electric Association, has signed contracts to install its 129th utility peak-shaving and backup generation project, bringing the company's total installed capacity to 200MW.
The latest project for Energy Alternatives is an 800kW backup generator installation for large-format retailer Target's new Waconia store in Minnesota, US.
Energy Alternatives provides project design, management and financing for utilities and businesses seeking to install backup generation.
Energy Alternatives's client list includes Ecolab, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, Cub Foods, Target, Menards, Great River Energy, RR Donnelley, casinos, school districts, cities and utilities.
Dale Gundberg, Energy Alternatives's president, said: "We appreciate the confidence our customers have in us. Installing a generator involves a lot of engineering and permitting requirements and Energy Alternatives's staff has the experience to do it right."
