Mazda's Hofu Plant Production Reaches Eight Million Units Milestone

Mazda Motor has announced that its Hofu plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, has reached a cumulative production volume of eight million units.
The milestone was achieved in 25 years and nine months, since vehicle production commenced in September 1982. Mazda claims that cumulative volume rose from seven million to eight million units in just 23 months, making it the fastest million units ever produced at the plant.
This result was due to high production volumes of the Mazda Axela, which has seen annual growth every year since its launch in 2003, and the all-new Mazda Atenza, which commenced production in August 2007.
Masafumi Nakano, executive officer and general manager of Hofu plant, said: "I would like to thank not just the employees, but also all of our loyal customers, business partners, and everyone in the local community who supports us."
