As Airline Baggage Fees and Travel Hassles Mount, Consumers Look to Alternatives for Transporting Luggage

As top U.S. airlines scramble to match the first checked baggage fee policies kicked off in June, travelers everywhere are left feeling the pinch for summer vacations. Added costs of $15 each way to check a bag along with potential luggage handling complications associated with high summer volumes open the door for luggage delivery services, like The Luggage Club, to give travelers the peace of mind that their luggage will be delivered to their destination on time.
The Luggage Club, a specialized service for leisure and business travelers that offers door-to-door baggage and goods delivery, takes handling out of the airlines' responsibility, therefore eliminating one of consumers' prime concerns regarding air travel. Since the onset of new baggage fees, The Luggage Club transactions have risen sharply, according to The Luggage Club CEO, Todd Kempinger.
"With such high consumer dissatisfaction being reported even by TIA (Travel Industry Association), one immediate remedy to air travelers' frustrations is to ship luggage in advance," recommends Kempinger. "By taking the luggage delivery component out of the airlines' hands, the passenger's experience becomes much smoother and more relaxing as they eliminate the possibility of lost or damaged luggage."
Helping to reduce the risk of baggage delays and even longer check-in lines at the airport, a growing number of air travelers now are shipping their bags in advance of their trip.
How It Works
Travelers can schedule the service with The Luggage Club online or via phone. The Luggage Club then picks up the baggage at the customer's location of choice, transports the luggage and delivers it to their final destination.
The Luggage Club has no limits on size, weight or number of pieces that can be shipped, and services are available throughout 220 countries and territories worldwide. When consumers ship luggage with a service like The Luggage Club, the cost per bag decreases as bags are added to the order, unlike airline policies that sanction more fees as bags are added.
"Travelers' patience has been pushed to the limits, and they're looking for alternative methods of transporting luggage while still not breaking the bank," Kempinger said. "As the travel industry as a whole continues to evolve, so should the way in which consumers plan their travel in order to minimize potential trip-wreckers like lost luggage."
