Borrego Solar Systems, Inc., a leading designer and installer of grid-connected solar electric power systems, today announced the opening of an office in Lowell, Mass. to facilitate the company's rapid growth as a result of increasing demand for solar energy solutions by businesses and homeowners throughout New England. Borrego will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. EDT at the new office. At the event, Massachusetts Rep. James B. Eldridge (37th Middlesex District), Lowell Mayor William F. Martin, Jr., Borrego Solar executives and other local business and political leaders will discuss the creation of green-collar jobs and other significant economic benefits as Massachusetts continues to emerge as a clean technology hub.
"As the cost of traditional energy continues to soar, more and more homeowners and businesses across New England are turning to solar power to reduce their energy bills and promote environmental sustainability. The momentum of the Commonwealth Solar Initiative and other state programs have helped fuel this movement, and as a result, Borrego Solar is growing at a tremendous rate," said Brendan Neagle, Vice President of Business Development at Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. "We currently have 34 employees in our New England office, and anticipate the hiring of at least 30 more in the coming months as solar energy continues to gain adoption throughout the region. We are excited to be part of Massachusetts' emergence as a leading center for clean technology, and look forward to many years of continued success in New England."
The ceremony will be held at the new Lowell, Mass. office, located at 205 Industrial Ave. East. This is Borrego's seventh location, with the other six in California: El Cajon (corporate headquarters), Berkeley, San Francisco, Petaluma, Santa Anta and Campbell.
