USAPA Resumes Merger-Related Pilot Contract Negotiations With US Airways

The US Airline Pilots Association has initiated pilot contract talks with the US Airways management. If the negotiations are successful, a major obstacle in the US Airways-America West merger will be overcome.
The negotiations fell apart 10 months ago due to the disparate pay and working conditions between the US Airways and America West pilot groups, which the former bargaining agent could not resolve.
Steve Bradford, president of the US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA), said: "We believe it is time for management to complete the job it started three years ago and conclude the merger of US Airways and America West. Although we are hopeful, we will wait and see what the management does, not what they say."
