Ogden City Selects Chevron Energy Solutions to Help Achieve Energy Saving Goals

Posted on: Thursday, 26 June 2008, 09:03 CDT

OGDEN CITY, Utah, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevron Energy Solutions, a unit of Chevron Corporation, today announced it has finalized an agreement with Ogden City officials to perform a comprehensive energy audit of 22 city buildings comprising over 600,000 square feet.

The audit will uncover energy and water saving opportunities by identifying current inefficiencies with equipment and operations processes and prioritize the opportunities based on return on investment, operational efficiency and emissions impact. The audit team began its survey on June 3rd and will present its findings to the City this fall.

Ogden City will use the audit to help it achieve its economic and environmental goals. "We are hopeful that this study will reveal new technologies and practices we can employ that will save money, increase the efficiency of our buildings and improve air quality," said Mayor Matthew Godfrey.

Implementation of the audit's findings could make the buildings significantly more energy efficient and potentially create taxpayer savings by reducing the facilities' energy consumption and operating and maintenance costs. By lowering the demand for utility power, efficiency improvements also lead to reductions in utility emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.

"Conservation and efficiency are the most economic sources of 'new' energy, and they play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions," said John Mahoney, chief operating officer of Chevron Energy Solutions. "We applaud Ogden City for taking this first step and setting an example for other communities in the region and around the country."
