Verizon Wireless Expands Wireless Broadband Network in Monroe County
Verizon Wireless has expanded BroadbandAccess, its wireless broadband service, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, giving local customers access to the high-speed business and entertainment services on their wireless phones, laptop and desktop computers, and PDAs.
Customers living in, or visiting, the Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Brodheadsville, Blakeslee, Tobyhanna, East Stroudsburg University, Tannersville, Mount Pocono and Pocono Summit areas can now access their e-mail, corporate data and the internet at broadband speeds.
The company has added CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev A) technology to several cell sites in the above areas. The company also announced that it has added EV-DO Rev A technology to 30 sites throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania, including in Monroe County.
Christine Baron, president of Verizon Wireless’ Philadelphia tri-state region, said: “Instead of merely offering wireless broadband service in metropolitan areas or near major airports, we’re committed to giving our customers the ability to access the internet, corporate data and premium entertainment content at broadband speeds throughout the Poconos region and across much of Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
