Increasing fuel costs will lead to decreasing service at Harrisburg International Airport, it was announced Wednesday.
American Airlines will end all service there in November. It runs two daily flights to Chicago and one to Dallas/Fort Worth.
HIA also disclosed that US Airways will eliminate both of its daily flights to Pittsburgh, effective in September. US Airways still will provide daily service to Boston, Charlotte, N.C., and Philadelphia.
An airport spokesman said HIA hopes to restore service to Pittsburgh on US Airways or another carrier, but that won't happen until 2009 at the earliest.
Service to Chicago remains available at HIA via five daily flights on United Airlines.
