Alcoa Issues 2007 Corporate Sustainability Highlight Report

Alcoa (NYSE:AA) today announced the release of its 2007 Corporate Sustainability Highlights, which details the company's global environmental, social and economic performance and shows how sustainability is integrated into all aspects of our business. Some notable 2007 accomplishments include:
-- The opening of our first new smelter in two decades in Eastern Iceland.
-- Named one of the world's most sustainable corporations in the world for the fourth consecutive year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
-- Posted annual revenues of US$30.7 billion - an all-time record
-- Through Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation, invested more than US$49 million in the communities in which we operate worldwide.
-- Held our executive leadership team accountable for integrating diversity into our overall strategy and began tying the results to incentive compensation.
-- Ended 2007 with 80% of our locations having zero lost workdays and nearly 50% with no recordable injuries.
In addition, Alcoa engaged the services of independent firm AccountAbility to facilitate a pilot sustainability review panel made up of both external members and Alcoa representatives to help identify gaps in our reporting. As part of the process, the external panel members wrote an independent commentary that gives direction for continuous improvement in the reporting process. These observations are included in the report.
