Gazprom, Bp Continue Talks on Strategic Alliance
MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) – Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) and BP are continuing talks on the creation of a strategic alliance, head of the Russian gas monopoly Alexei Miller told the press.
“As for talks on strategic cooperation with BP, they are ongoing,” he said.
Asked whether the gas pipeline in Alaska Gazprom is touting could be contributed to this cooperation, Miller said: “The gas pipeline can be considered as a promising project, because for us it is a core business. In general, when it comes to the strategic alliance with BP, it [the gas pipeline] may become part of it,” he said.
Gazprom has been showing interest in the construction of a gas pipeline linking Alaska to the southern states of the U.S. and has made corresponding offers to the parties to the project – BP and ConocoPhillips.
