Iran Discovers New Oilfield in Persian Gulf

Managing-director of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company [Mahmud Zirakchianzadeh] has said that a new oilfield has been discovered in the Persian Gulf.

[Mahmud] Zirakchianzadeh said that this oilfield was discovered by India’s ONGC Company and the volume of its reserve would be announced after the studies are finished.

He referred to the 3bn-dollar contract with India for developing Farzad 2 gas field in Farsi Island and said that after finalizing the studies, the Indian company will start investing on development of the discovered oilfield along with Farzad B gas field.

Zirakchianzadeh also said that Poland has asked to invest on the development of Lavan gas field and added that the talks for reviewing this request and export of 2bn dollars of LNG gas to Poland has started.
