Austrian Airlines Names New Vice President of Technical Department

Austrian Airlines has named Burkard Wigger as its new vice president of technical department, effective September 1, 2008.

In his new function, Mr Wigger will assume overall responsibility for the technical department of Austrian Airlines, which maintains the aircraft belonging to the Austrian Airlines Group itself in addition to numerous aircraft of national and international airline clients from its location at Vienna Airport.

Austrian Airlines has announced that its executive vice president of technical department, Walter Hechenberger, is switching to another airline where he will assume a managerial position.

Mr Wigger joins Austrian Airlines from German leisure airline Condor, where he has been advancing the development of a new, Frankfurt-based aircraft maintenance operation since mid-2007.
