Tajik Leader, Russian President’s Chief of Staff Discuss Energy Cooperation

Today Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received the head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergey Naryshkin.
The meeting discussed issues of current and future multi-faceted relations between Tajikistan and Russia.
The head of state, Emomali Rahmon, noted that the construction of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station was a result of good strategic partnership. He expressed confidence that this kind of mutually beneficial integration would be steadily continued in future too.
The parties held beneficial talks on details of cooperation between the two countries in implementation of other hydroenergy projects as well as extraction and development of oil and gas in Tajikistan.
It was noted that after the completion of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station, machinery and equipment as well as specialists and workers involved in the construction could be sent to the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station.
The parties expressed confidence that an official visit of Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev to Tajikistan would give a powerful impetus to the cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
