Comverge Selected By PPL EnergyPlus for Energy Management Services

July 2, 2008

Clean capacity provider Comverge has been selected by PPL EnergyPlus for full-service energy management services that include demand response programs, metering and integration, and other energy curtailment services as part of PPL EnergyPlus’s effort to strengthen its energy business.

Comverge will extend the energy services PPL EnergyPlus offers to its commercial and industrial (C&I) customers through comprehensive energy solutions provided to produce energy load reduction and related services in the PJM market.

With generation rate caps in Pennsylvania expiring at the end of 2009, PPL EnergyPlus is expected to offer more energy services to its customers.

Pursuant to the program, Comverge will enroll PPL EnergyPlus C&I customers in demand response programs administered by the Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) or the Independent System Operator (ISO), to compensate customers for curtailing load against specific program parameters.

Gene Alessandrini, senior vice president of marketing for PPL EnergyPlus, said: “We wanted a partner with the depth and breath of energy curtailment offerings who also happens to have the experience with providing energy services in the Pennsylvania-Jersey-Maryland region. That partner is Comverge. It is critical to offer our customers services that allow them to manage their energy usage and costs, and Comverge will help us do that.”
