German airline Lufthansa has started a new nonstop six-weekly service between Frankfurt and Pune, India.
The airline operates a 48-seat business jet, Airbus A319, on the new route. This is reportedly the first time Lufthansa is operating a business jet in the Asia-Pacific region. With the new addition, Lufthansa currently operates 55 flights per week from seven Indian cities.
The airline also plans to increase the frequency of flights between Europe and the Indian cities of Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai.
Werner Heesen, director of south Asia at Lufthansa, said that Pune is the seventh destination in the country which has direct flights to Frankfurt. The others are from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
