In response to the rising fuel prices, US Airways and Northwest Airlines have decided to reduce the number of flights to China.
US Airways also plans to delay the launch of its new Philadelphia-Beijing service to March 25, 2010. Northwest plans to suspend the US-Guangzhou cargo flights.
US Airways, Northwest, American, United Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines and Alaska Air Group have requested the US for blanket authority to suspend international routes. The US denied saying it will process the request on an individual basis.
