Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that a permanent aluminum wheel display has been placed in the recently opened over-the-road transportation museum, America On Wheels, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
On display is Alcoa's popular Dura-Bright(R) with XBR(TM) wheel along with a timeline graphic which visually tells the story of the 60-year history of the Alcoa aluminum forged wheel starting in 1948 to the present. The display is located in the Orientation Theatre, an area visitors first enter before touring the museum.
"Alcoa is pleased to support America On Wheels with a display of our popular Dura-Bright(R) with XBR(TM) technology wheel. The opening of this museum coincides with our 60th anniversary celebrating wheel innovation. The synergy of these two events couldn't have come at a better time to commemorate our history and the history of over-the-road transportation," says Victor Marquez, Global Vice-President of Marketing, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products.
The $17 million, 43,000-square-foot museum, opened on April 12, 2008.
"We are honored to prominently display Alcoa's wheel in our Orientation Theatre along with its impressive timeline. Thank you to Alcoa for helping the wheels go round," says Linda Merkel, Executive Director of America On Wheels.
Also featured in the museum are vintage Mack trucks, fire engines, motorcycles, buses, muscle cars, tires and wheels, as well as interactive games and educational tools. It is expected the museum will attracted 100,000 visitors a year.
