Second Unit of Tianwan Npp Started Up After Preventive Maintenance
MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - The second unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant was turned on Sunday, after preventive maintenance by Atomstroyexport and Rosenergoatom, Atomstroyexport said.
Chinese and Russian specialists checked the condition of metal fragments of the reactor hull, main circulating pumps and steam generator pipes, as well as the turbine, the generator, the turbine condenser, high-pressure heaters and other gadgets during 66 days.
They also reloaded the reactor fuel.
Repairs of the first unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant were successfully completed in early March 2008 with the technical assistance of Russia.
In all, the nuclear power plant has supplied 16.1 million megawatt of electricity to the Chinese province of Jiangsu.
